REDcycle at Woolworths!

The REDcycle Program is a voluntary, industry-led initiative developed by Melbourne-based organisation, RED Group. They are supported by Coles, Woolworths and some of Australia’s most-loved brands to reduce the amount of plastic packaging going to landfill.

Through the program, customers can recycle plastic bags and other soft plastic packaging using the specially marked bins located at the front of the store.

Woolworths has recycled more than 1,300 tonnes (10,600 shopping trolleys) of soft plastics through the REDcycle program in the last 12 months!

Types of soft plastics that can be recycled via REDcycle are:

  • Shopping bags including reusable 'green’ bags
  • Fresh fruit and veggie bags and wrappers
  • Bread bags
  • Cereal box liners
  • Biscuit wrappers and confectionery packaging
  • Rice and pasta packets
  • Frozen food bags

The REDcycle Program would not be possible without the support of our partners, and most importantly, the great efforts on the part of Australian consumers.

Don’t forget to bring your Recycle-able  soft plastics to Woolworths next time you are heading to the centre!
